DCR Water Audit

Greater Boston, Massachusetts

Client: Department of Conservation + Recreation

Project Categories: Planning, Environmental Planning, Climate Resilience + Adaptation

There are several urban parks and golf courses in the Boston area that consume a large amount of water for irrigation. In many cases, heavy watering is unnecessary as the planting beds are well established. Working for the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Office of Water Resources, Civic Space Collaborative conducted water audits of five Boston area parks and golf courses as part of DCR’s efforts to meet the State’s water conservation standards. CSC worked with park officials to develop recommendations for water and energy conservation. The final report included an extensive analysis of audit results and detailed recommendations, including suggested products and implementation plans.
